Patch testing is especially important if you are prone to sensitive skin, eczema, and/or psoriasis.
- Our skin undergoes changes daily, and is affected by various factors including diet, lifestyle, hormones, physiological and psychological conditions as well as environmental factors such as climate and pollution. As with all skincare products, what suited you yesterday may not today, even though our formulae and ingredients have not changed at all .
WHAT IS SKIN PURGING?
- Skin purging occurs when a new skincare product causes the skin to break out. Essentially, the skin speeds up renewal and any dead skin or sebum trapped under the skin may surface up as bumps like acne. This generally occurs 3 to 6 weeks after introducing a new active like vitamin C, retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide. It resolves by itself in another 4 to 8 weeks so one need not withhold or discontinue the active ingredient being used. If it doesn't start resolving on its own, it may not be purging and one would need to consult a dermatologist. While the purge doesn’t happen with everyone, it is a possibility. To reduce skin purging, gradually introduce new products at a low dose and frequency.
